Young hip fashion label MissingLingLing designs stylish clothes in easy-to-wear fabrics. As their A-dapt dress became one of Paula Varjack's wardrobe necessities, they began to create one off garments for her performances. The label is now further exploring costuming for unique performers.
Paul Salamone met Paula Varjack on Berlin's english language spoken word scene. After many late nights in many Kreuzberg dive bars, drinking far too much whiskey, they decided to join forces to create comic sketches to satirise themselves, and the dynamics of post modern relationships.
We started with a toy organ in a kitchen, we progressed to an electric guitar in a gallery, then in a chinese restaraunt, and on to madame claudes open mic. we are me and marty. we are an installation. we are a work in progress. watch. this. space.
Smoke and Mirrors is a multilingual forty minute slam poetry show. It was devised and written by the nine artists in residence (of which Paula is one of) at the first European Poetry Slam Days event, held in Berlin in Fall 2009. The show will go on tour in 2010 to twenty one European Cities.
After a poetry workshop run by Apples and Snakes, Jonas McCloud and Paula Varjack got talking on the back of a 242 bus to Hackney East London, in a mixture of german and english. This dialogue on hip hop, spoken word and cultural identitly led to an ongoing musical collaboration. The result of which is their first EP, Lets Make tracks, soon to be released...
Tuesday designed this nifty website for Paula. She also does: copy, logo design, flyers, and websites for smart artists. If you want her to design something for you, you can email her. When Tuesday does poetry she goes by the name Mirabelle Jones. She was a contestant at the very first Anti-Slam, contributing a poem about unloved parts of the human anatomy.
